Abbreviated Biography

I hold a first degree in Geography (Geomorphology) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1967); a Masters in Geology from the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA (1971), and a Doctorate in Hydrogeology from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C., 1977.  I also hold a postgraduate diploma in Library Science from the University of Ibadan, 1968.

I’ve been a lecturer (part-time at the University of Ife, Nigeria – now Obafemi Awolowo University while working at the Africana Section of the University Library); also at the Polytechnic, Ibadan where I rose to Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences Department.  I ran a consultancy company, Deptol Consultants at Ibadan, Nigeria, from 1976 to 1988 after which I worked for Mifflin & Associates based in Las Vegas, NV., USA a firm of geoscientists that has as major client the State of Nevada on the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository Program against the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).  Mifflin & Associates was founded  and headed by Professor Martin Mifflin, formerly of the Desert Research Institute based at Las Vegas, NV.

I’ve been involved in projects with international bodies like the World Bank, and as lead consultant with Deptol Consultants in many (Nigeria) Federal and State governments on water and water-related issues.

I belong to the International Water Resources Association (IWRA); Geological Society of America (GSA) and Nigerian Association of Hydrologists. I’ve attended many international conferences on water, including the World Water Forum at The Hague, 1999; the International Conference on Lakes, Biwako, Japan, 2001, and International Forum Hydrorama 2002, “International Water Management: The Key to Susainable Water Resources”, Athens, Greece, March 2002.
